Techno-Bunny Breakfast Scones
Fluffy and tender scones, featuring a hint of orange zest and a sprinkle of sugar on top, reminiscent of the mechanical genius and sweet, playful nature of our favorite furry contraption. These scones are surprisingly easy to make and perfect for a leisurely morning or afternoon tea.

Directions
- 1
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 2
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- 3
Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Using your fingertips or a pastry blender, cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs with some pea-sized pieces of butter remaining.
- 4
Stir in the orange zest.
- 5
Pour in 3/4 cup of buttermilk. Mix with a fork until the dough just comes together. Do not overmix; a slightly shaggy dough is desirable.
- 6
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Gently pat or roll the dough into a 3/4-inch thick circle or rectangle.
- 7
Use a 2 1/2-inch round cutter, or a sharp knife to cut the dough into 8-10 wedges. Re-knead scraps gently and cut additional scones.
- 8
Place the scones on the prepared baking sheet. If desired, whisk the remaining 1 tablespoon buttermilk with the egg for an egg wash and brush the tops of the scones.
- 9
Sprinkle the tops with a little extra granulated sugar for a golden, slightly crunchy crust.
- 10
Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown on top and a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- 11
Transfer scones to a wire rack to cool slightly. Serve warm with jam and clotted cream.
