Mist-Shrouded Berry & Mint Julep
This potent julep, with its dark, fruit-infused depths and a misty veil of crushed ice, offers a momentary, bracing clarity amidst the unsettling unknown. Each sip is a sweet deception, much like a fleeting respite in the shadow of lurking horrors, inviting you to momentarily forget the mist outside, if only for a moment.

Directions
- 1
In a small saucepan, combine the mixed berries, granulated sugar, lemon juice, and a pinch of sea salt.
- 2
Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the berries soften and release their juices, about 5-7 minutes.
- 3
Remove from heat and use a fork or potato masher to lightly crush the berries, creating a chunky syrup; allow to cool completely, about 15 minutes.
- 4
Strain the berry mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean bowl, pressing firmly on the solids to extract all the liquid; discard the solids.
- 5
In a julep cup or rocks glass, gently muddle 6-8 fresh mint leaves until fragrant but not bruised, about 15 seconds.
- 6
Add 2 oz of the berry syrup, the bourbon, blackberry liqueur, Angostura bitters, and vanilla extract to the glass.
- 7
Fill the glass completely with crushed ice, mounding it high above the rim to create a 'mist-shrouded' effect.
- 8
Stir gently until the outside of the glass is frosty, about 30 seconds, ensuring all ingredients are well combined.
- 9
Garnish with a fresh sprig of mint and serve immediately, urging guests to sip cautiously into the mysterious depths.
