Donkey's Delightful Wafflewich
Who knew waffles could be so versatile? This savory sandwich creation, inspired by our favorite talkative companion, combines crispy waffles with smoky ham and gooey cheese for a surprisingly satisfying lunch that's anything but ordinary. It's a quick, fun, and delicious meal.

Directions
- 1
Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions. Cook the frozen waffles until they are crispy and golden brown.
- 2
While the waffles are cooking, prepare the sandwich spread. In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly.
- 3
Once the waffles are cooked, spread a thin layer of the prepared sauce on one side of each waffle.
- 4
On two of the waffles, layer 4 slices of deli ham onto the sauced side, then top with 2 slices of Swiss cheese.
- 5
Place the remaining two sauced waffles on top of the cheese to form two sandwiches. Gently press down.
- 6
Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add a tablespoon of butter, allowing it to melt and coat the bottom of the pan.
- 7
Carefully place the waffle sandwiches into the hot skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until the cheese is melted and gooey, and the waffles are extra crispy and golden brown. You may need to press down gently with a spatula to ensure even heating.
- 8
Remove from the skillet, cut each wafflewich in half diagonally if desired, and serve immediately while the cheese is still warm and melted.
