Tiffany's Tempting Tiramisu Trifle
Inspired by Tiffany Valentine, this tiramisu trifle is a dark romance of rich flavors, layering espresso-soaked ladyfingers beneath a mascarpone cream that's both seductive and surprisingly sharp. A whisper of liqueur adds a sophisticated edge, creating a dessert that's deceptively elegant, much like the infamous doll herself, leaving a lasting, indelible impression with every decadent bite.

Directions
- 1
In a heatproof bowl set over a saucepan of barely simmering water, whisk together the egg yolks, granulated sugar, and salt until light, fluffy, and significantly increased in volume, about 6-8 minutes, reaching 160°F on an instant-read thermometer.
- 2
Remove the bowl from the heat and continue to whisk vigorously until the mixture is cool and very pale, about 5-7 minutes, creating a stable zabaglione base.
- 3
Gently fold the room temperature mascarpone cheese into the cooled egg yolk mixture until just combined and smooth, taking care not to overmix, which can curdle the cheese.
- 4
In a separate bowl, whip the chilled heavy cream with the vanilla extract until medium-stiff peaks form, providing a light, airy contrast.
- 5
Delicately fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture in two additions, ensuring a uniform, velvety cream.
- 6
In a shallow dish, combine the cooled espresso and Kahlúa, stirring until thoroughly mixed.
- 7
Quickly dip each ladyfinger, one at a time, into the espresso mixture for no more than 2-3 seconds per side; do not oversoak, or they will become mushy.
- 8
Arrange a single layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom of a 2-quart trifle dish or 8 individual parfait glasses, covering the base completely.
- 9
Spread half of the mascarpone cream evenly over the ladyfingers; then sprinkle generously with half of the grated dark chocolate.
- 10
Repeat with another layer of espresso-soaked ladyfingers, followed by the remaining mascarpone cream, ensuring a smooth, even surface.
- 11
Cover the trifle with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 6 hours, or preferably overnight, allowing the flavors to meld and the trifle to set.
- 12
Just before serving, garnish the top with the remaining grated dark chocolate, creating a striking visual contrast to the creamy layers below.
