Sherwood Forest Berry Crumble
A rustic and comforting berry crumble, fit for a hero or a humble outlaw. This dessert combines the sweetness of mixed berries with a rich, buttery oat topping, reminiscent of foraging for wild fruits in the ancient woods. It's a perfect end to any meal, simple yet satisfying.

Directions
- 1
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly butter an 8-inch square baking dish or a similar sized oven-safe dish.
- 2
In a large bowl, gently combine the mixed berries, granulated sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice. Toss until the berries are evenly coated.
- 3
Pour the berry mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly.
- 4
In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt for the crumble topping.
- 5
Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Use your fingertips or a pastry blender to cut the butter into the flour mixture until coarse crumbs form. Some larger pieces of butter are fine.
- 6
Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the berry mixture in the baking dish.
- 7
Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the berry mixture is bubbling around the edges. If the topping browns too quickly, you can loosely cover it with foil.
- 8
Remove from the oven and let cool for at least 15-20 minutes before serving. This allows the filling to set slightly.
