Shank's Street Racer Steak Sandwich
Inspired by a formidable yet refined leader on the digital highway, this robust steak sandwich features thinly sliced, perfectly seared beef, caramelized onions, and a tangy horseradish cream, all nestled in a crusty roll. It's a satisfying, savory meal designed for those who appreciate bold flavors and a hearty, quick bite.

Directions
- 1
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet or cast-iron pan over medium heat.
- 2
Add the sliced onion and cook, stirring occasionally, for 10-15 minutes, until deeply caramelized and tender. Remove from pan and set aside.
- 3
Increase heat to medium-high. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the pan.
- 4
Season the thinly sliced steak with oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- 5
Working in batches if necessary, sear the steak for 1-2 minutes per side until beautifully browned and cooked to your desired doneness. Do not overcrowd the pan.
- 6
Just before removing the steak, pile the caramelized onions back into the pan with the steak. Divide the provolone cheese over the steak and onions and cover with a lid for 30 seconds to allow the cheese to melt.
- 7
While the cheese melts, in a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, prepared horseradish, and chives to create the horseradish cream.
- 8
Lightly toast the hoagie rolls under a broiler or in a dry pan until lightly golden.
- 9
Spread a generous layer of horseradish cream on both sides of each toasted roll. Divide the cheesy steak and onion mixture evenly among the rolls and serve immediately.
