Maui's Hearty Seafood Skewers with Fiery Glaze
Inspired by the demigod's strength and connection to the ocean, these skewers feature succulent shrimp and tender scallops, grilled to perfection and brushed with a robust, slightly spicy glaze. A celebration of island flavors, this dish is substantial enough for a main course.

Directions
- 1
If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning.
- 2
In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, grated ginger, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes to create the glaze.
- 3
Thread the shrimp and scallops alternately onto the skewers, leaving a small space between each piece.
- 4
Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Lightly brush the grill grates with oil.
- 5
Brush the seafood skewers generously with about half of the prepared glaze.
- 6
Place the skewers on the hot grill and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, brushing with more glaze as they cook, until the shrimp turn pink and opaque and the scallops are cooked through and slightly caramelized.
- 7
Be careful not to overcook the seafood, as it can become tough.
- 8
Remove the skewers from the grill and let rest for a minute.
- 9
Serve immediately with fresh lime wedges and a sprinkle of chopped cilantro.
