Zen Garden Matcha & Sesame Cookies
These delightful cookies embody balance and tranquility, combining the earthy elegance of matcha with the nutty depth of black sesame. Lightly crisp on the outside with a tender chew within, they evoke the serene beauty of a peaceful garden, perfect for a moment of quiet reflection.

Directions
- 1
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- 2
In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- 3
Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.
- 4
In a separate medium bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, matcha powder, baking soda, and salt.
- 5
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined. Do not overmix.
- 6
Stir in the black sesame seeds until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- 7
Roll the cookie dough into 1-inch balls. Gently roll each ball in white sesame seeds to coat the exterior, if desired.
- 8
Place the coated cookie dough balls about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets.
- 9
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are just set. They may still appear soft in the middle.
- 10
Remove from oven and let cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- 11
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 days. Enjoy with a cup of tea for a truly zen experience.
