Directions

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease an 8x8 inch baking dish or a similar sized oval dish.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, combine the mixed berries, granulated sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice. Toss gently to coat.

  3. 3

Pour the berry mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.

  4. 4

In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt for the topping.

  5. 5

Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Using your fingertips or a pastry blender, cut the butter into the flour mixture until coarse crumbs form, with some pea-sized pieces remaining.

  6. 6

Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the berry mixture in the baking dish.

  7. 7

Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the berry filling is bubbling around the edges.

  8. 8

If the topping starts to brown too quickly, you can loosely tent the dish with aluminum foil.

  9. 9

Remove from oven and let cool on a wire rack for at least 15-20 minutes before serving.

  10. 10

Serve warm, perhaps with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
