Directions

    In the bowl of a food processor, combine the rinsed chickpeas, fresh lemon juice, tahini, minced garlic, 2 tablespoons olive oil, ground cumin, salt, and cayenne pepper (if using).

    Process until smooth, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.

    With the food processor running, gradually add the water, one tablespoon at a time, until the hummus reaches your desired creamy consistency.

    Taste and adjust seasonings as necessary, adding more salt, lemon juice, or cumin to your preference.

    Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

    Warm the pita breads: Place the pita breads directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet. Heat for 3-5 minutes, or until soft and slightly puffed.
