These delightful muffins are a sweet, slightly tart treat perfect for an oceanic journey or a cozy breakfast at home. The 'ocean berry swirl' provides a vibrant burst of flavor, reminiscent of coral reefs and the open sea, making them a family favorite.

Directions
- 1
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners or grease thoroughly.
- 2
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- 3
In a separate medium bowl, whisk the egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- 4
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir gently with a spoon or spatula until just combined; do not overmix. A few lumps are perfectly fine.
- 5
Gently fold in 3/4 cup of the mixed berries into the muffin batter.
- 6
Divide the batter evenly among the prepared muffin cups.
- 7
In a small bowl, mash the remaining 1/4 cup of berries with 2 tablespoons of sugar to create a chunky swirl mixture.
- 8
Spoon small dollops of the berry swirl mixture on top of each muffin and use a toothpick or small knife to gently swirl it through the batter.
- 9
Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean and the tops are golden brown.
- 10
Allow the muffins to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve warm or at room temperature.
