When Joe Rogan dared contestants to down a 'Fear Factor Smoothie' of unidentifiable origin.

The 'Spider Smoothie' Protein Shake

Don't let the name deter you; this protein-packed smoothie is a surprisingly delightful concoction where rich dark chocolate and tart blackberries meld into a mysteriously dark elixir. A playful white chocolate web and a garnish of roasted crickets add an unexpected textural crunch, transforming a simple shake into an adventurous culinary experience.

Directions

  1. 1

Combine the almond milk, blackberries, cocoa powder, chocolate protein powder, frozen banana, almond butter, vanilla extract, and sea salt in a high-speed blender.

  2. 2

Blend on high until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy, about 1-2 minutes, scraping down the sides as needed.

  3. 3

If the smoothie is too thick, add a touch more almond milk, one tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency is reached.

  4. 4

Pour the blended smoothie into a tall glass.

  5. 5

Carefully melt the white chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl set over a small saucepan of simmering water (a double boiler), stirring until smooth and fluid.

  6. 6

Transfer the melted white chocolate to a small piping bag with a very fine tip, or a resealable plastic bag with a tiny corner snipped off.

  7. 7

Pipe a 'spider web' design directly onto the surface of the smoothie, starting with concentric circles and then drawing lines from the center outwards.

  8. 8

Garnish the entire creation with a sprinkle of roasted crickets over the web design, adding a textural, adventurous crunch.

  9. 9

Serve immediately, perhaps with a straw for the full Fear Factor immersive experience.
