Sweet Release 'Dismissed' Slushie

Like a whirlwind date that ends in a sweet victory, this vibrant layered slushie delivers a refreshing punch. With distinct blue raspberry and cherry flavors culminating in a playful gummy ring, it’s a playful nod to those dramatic, early 2000s eliminations.

Directions

  1. 1

To prepare the cherry layer, combine the frozen raspberries, 1/4 cup of the granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons of the fresh lemon juice, 1/2 cup of ice cubes, and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract in a high-speed blender.

  2. 2

Blend on high until completely smooth and thick, adding an extra tablespoon of water if needed to reach a desired slushie consistency; transfer this mixture to a bowl and place it in the freezer to keep it very cold.

  3. 3

Thoroughly clean the blender pitcher to avoid color mixing.

  4. 4

For the blue raspberry layer, whisk together the blue raspberry drink mix powder with 2 cups of the cold water and the remaining 1/4 cup of granulated sugar in a pitcher until the sugar is fully dissolved.

  5. 5

Pour this blue raspberry mixture into the clean blender, add the remaining 1/2 cup of ice cubes, the remaining 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice, 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and the sea salt.

  6. 6

Blend on high until smooth and slushy, similar in consistency to the cherry layer, about 1-2 minutes.

  7. 7

To assemble the slushies, carefully spoon or pour the cherry slushie into the bottom third of two tall glasses.

  8. 8

Gently top the cherry layer with the blue raspberry slushie, filling the glasses evenly.

  9. 9

Garnish each slushie with two assorted gummy rings, hanging them playfully off the rim of the glass or suspending them within the top layer.

  10. 10

Serve immediately with a long spoon or wide straw, savoring the distinct layers.
