Ishimura Reactor Core Stew
A robust and warming stew, perfect for fortifying yourself against the cold void. Layers of deep flavor slowly meld together, reminiscent of a ship's core radiating a comforting heat. Each spoonful offers a dense, satisfying experience, a true culinary engineering marvel.

Directions
- 1
Heat olive oil in a large Dutch oven or heavy-bottomed pot over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- 2
Pat beef dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and pepper. Brown beef in batches on all sides, about 3-4 minutes per batch, then remove to a plate.
- 3
Add onion, carrots, and celery to the pot, scraping up any browned bits. Cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- 4
Stir in minced garlic, dried thyme, and smoked paprika. Cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
- 5
Return beef to the pot. Pour in beef broth, diced tomatoes, and Worcestershire sauce. Add bay leaves.
- 6
Bring the stew to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1 hour.
- 7
Add the halved red potatoes to the pot. Continue to simmer, covered, for another 1 to 1 1/2 hours, or until beef and potatoes are fork-tender.
- 8
Remove bay leaves before serving. Season with additional salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot bowls of this hearty stew, optionally with crusty bread for dipping.
