The Man's Yellow Hat Banana Bread
A delightful and comforting banana bread, perfectly moist and subtly sweet, reminiscent of a thoughtful gift. This recipe elevates a classic with a hint of spice and a tender crumb, making it an ideal companion for a morning coffee or an afternoon snack. The texture should be soft and yielding, with a beautiful golden-brown crust.

Directions
- 1
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
- 2
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Set aside.
- 3
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- 4
Beat in the eggs one at a time, incorporating each fully before adding the next. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- 5
Add the mashed bananas to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
- 6
Alternately add the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the banana mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined; do not overmix. If using, fold in the chopped nuts.
- 7
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle the top evenly with turbinado sugar for a lovely crust.
- 8
Bake for 55-65 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. The top should be deeply golden brown.
- 9
Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely. Slice thick and serve warm or at room temperature.
