Start your day with a comforting, hearty breakfast that’s as vibrant and unexpected as a prehistoric sunrise. This oatmeal bake combines the earthiness of grain with bright berries and a hint of spice, perfect for fueling any adventure.

Directions
- 1
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease an 8x8-inch baking dish with butter.
- 2
In a large bowl, combine the rolled oats, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt, stirring well to distribute the spices evenly.
- 3
In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the milk, maple syrup (or honey), beaten egg, and melted butter until thoroughly combined.
- 4
Pour the wet ingredients over the dry ingredients in the large bowl and mix gently until the oats are just moistened.
- 5
Fold in 3/4 cup of the mixed berries into the oat mixture, being careful not to crush them too much.
- 6
Transfer the oatmeal mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly.
- 7
Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of mixed berries and the chopped nuts over the top of the oatmeal bake.
- 8
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the oatmeal is set and bubbly.
- 9
Remove from the oven and let it cool for about 5-10 minutes before serving. It will firm up slightly as it cools.
